    Each January, we encourage a dedicated time of prayer and fasting to start the new year. Often, it’s the Daniel Fast that we prayerfully choose to do; we’ve done this for many years, since before we were pastors. The Daniel Fast is a Bible-based 10-day or 21-day plant-based fast based on two fasts recorded in the book of Daniel, and it has been meaningful to us over the years. We find that it enriches our relationship with God.

    These 27 Daniel Fast recipes are sure to become quick favorites in your meal plan rotation: they’re delicious, easy to prepare, and filling. They’re highly rated Daniel Fast recipes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner that will keep you fueled and motivated to complete all 21 days of your fast.

    There are a few recipes that may call for an ingredient that isn’t technically Daniel Fast approved, such as a sprinkle of cheese, white tortillas, or an animal broth. You can easily skip them or substitute with an acceptable replacement. Our suggestion is to use vegetable broth in place of an animal broth, Daniel Fast friendly tortillas instead of white flour tortillas, and skip any cheese entirely, unless you find a suitable vegan cheese.

    Daniel Fast Granola Bar Recipe

    Cook Time: 25 minutes
    Total Time: 30 minutes

    If you're on the Daniel Fast and need a quick snack, you love this easy Daniel Fast granola bar recipe. With just four ingredients, they're super easy to make and can be ready in about 30 minutes!

    Ingredients

    • 2 cups quick oats
    • 1/4 cup walnuts, chopped
    • 1/2 cup raisins
    • 2 large bananas, mashed

    Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 350. Lightly oil an 8x8 baking dish.
    2. Mix all ingredients together in a medium bowl.
    3. Press mixture evenly into the baking dish.
    4. Bake for 25 minutes. Cool on wire rack.

    Notes

    I like to use smaller sized raisins (like these). You could also use large raisins or even dates, but chop them into smaller pieces first.
