Remember, what Daniel ate during his biblical fast (read Daniel chapter 1) was mainly fruits, vegetables, beans, and whole grains. Everything was minimally processed, very natural, and plant-based. He avoided the king’s rich and heavy foods, so that’s what our goal is while on this fast, as well. As a result, he was more in tune with the Lord and was shown to look physically healthier, too.

Chipotle is definitely a favorite as far as Daniel Fast restaurants are concerned! Our favorite Daniel Fast option from Chipotle is their veggie and rice bowl. Choose brown rice instead of white, and add the beans of your choice (they don’t use lard, thankfully — they’re vegan!). You can also add the tofu sofritas and lots of veggies. Top it with salsa and/or their delicious guacamole. Tip: When you choose a veggie bowl, the gauc is free! They don’t charge extra for it.
As a starter, you can enjoy their garlic-citrus seasoned edamame or plain edamame. Then, create your own main course bowl using brown rice or cabbage as the base. Layer with lots of yummy veggies and seasonings! Be careful with the sauces, though – many of them have added sugar or other non-friendly ingredients.

Things To Note
Keep in mind that menus are changing all the time, so this isn’t an exhaustive list, but it’s a great start! Many restaurants offer vegan options nowadays, so even if it isn’t on our list, you’ll probably be able to find something that suits the fast. Just remember to avoid animal products, white flour, and added sweeteners such as sugar. Sometimes the sugar can sneak into foods like salad dressings, so be extra cautious and don’t be afraid to ask for a substitution.
We’re sometimes asked about the black bean burger at Chili’s. While it’s certainly delicious, it’s not Daniel Fast friendly, since it’s our understanding that they use egg to bind the patties together.
Finally, you’re probably wondering about Daniel Fast pizza options. We’ve searched far and wide, and while many restaurants come close to having a DF compliant pizza, we haven’t found one perfectly suited with the allowed ingredients for the fast.
