Looking for a fun icebreaker game for a small group? This M&M Game is a fun icebreaker game that encourages people to talk and get to know each other by sharing facts about themselves, depending on what color M&M they’re holding.

We played it recently at a small tea party, and it was a huge hit!

My blue and white ironstone teacup sat happily perched atop it’s saucer on Friday night, center stage in a cozy tea party hosted by one of our sweet ladies from church. As the pastor’s wife, I was going to be giving a short devotional at this tea party.

But, what’s a tea party without pretty teacups?

This particular teacup I’d brought with me was from a set of eight four-piece place settings I stumbled on two summers ago at a last-minute garage sale stop. I wasn’t planning to buy anything really, just browse. Isn’t that how you shop garage sales, too? Just tinkering around, no real plan, hoping you find one little treasure you’re excited to tell your girlfriends about the next time you meet for coffee.

Walking up the driveway, I noticed the tattered box with the pretty blue and white dishes. I liked them even more when I turned them over and saw “ironstone” and “made in Spain” and then she told me I could take them all for $10.

Oh yes, I will take them. Yes, yes, yes, yes.

And so one of these well-traveled teacups joined me on our ladies tea party adventure last weekend. We laughed, sipped tea, carried around scones, and enjoyed each other’s company.

I shared this simple story of the teacup and the potter as part of my short devotional, but first we played this M&M game as a “get to know you” icebreaker. The devotional and game flowed together beautifully.

Let me know if you try it.

    M&M Game

    Step 1

Empty one small bag of original m&ms into a small jelly jar. Pass the jar around your small group, asking each lady to choose one m&m and hold onto it.

    Step 2

When each lady has a m&m, ask which ladies chose a red one, green one, etc. and they have to take turns answering the corresponding question from the printable. For example, each lady who chose a red m&m will share their favorite memory from this past summer, and each lady who chose orange will share their three favorite desserts.

    Step 3

Repeat until every lady has had the chance to answer their question.

If you need a party pack of m&ms, you can grab them here.

This icebreaker m&m game makes for a simple “get to know you” game in a small group setting. If you don’t have m&ms, you can use Skittles or another similarly colored candy.

    Enjoy!
