This 5-Ingredient Chocolate Chip Granola Bar Recipe is easy to make and so yummy! If you love a crunchy granola bar, then this is the recipe for you. The toasted oats take it to the next level!

I’ve been experimenting with granola bars lately.  If you prefer your granola bars crunchy rather than chewy, you’ll like this simple recipe using toasted oats, chocolate chips, and honey.

Chocolate Chip Granola Bar Recipe with Toasted Oats

    Here’s what you’ll need:

4 cups of quick cooking oats
    1/3 cup melted butter
    2/3 cup honey
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    3/4 cup chocolate chips

    Directions:

    Preheat oven to 350.

Toast oats on an ungreased baking sheet for about 15 minutes, stirring once halfway through.  Remove oats and let cool to room temperature.

Combine remaining ingredients in a large bowl; add oats and mix thoroughly.  Be sure the oats have cooled first or the chocolate chips will get soft!

Spread into 9×13 pan, lightly oiled, and press firmly to flatten.

Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.  Let cool and then cut into bars.  Enjoy!

These look delicious. I love homemade granola bars! Your comment about "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all", my mother raised me on that comment ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks–I need to try this! We’ve been looking for a great granola bar recipe for our homeschool kids, who always seem to be starving for a good snack around 10:00 each morning!

We tried this recipe this weekend with my boys. We used 1/2 cups of chocolate chips and about 1/4 cups dried cranberries. My boys preferred it broken up into chunks to eat it as granola bites! Since it was all crunched up I decided to try it with a little milk and it was delicious! Great homemade cereal! ๐Ÿ™‚

how do you store your granola bars? How long will they last? Can they be frozen? Thanks! I just found your site today from Simple Mom. Just started homeschooling preschool for my 2 and 3 year old boys, also adopted . I was also a teacher and youth minister BC. ( before children lol) Looks like we have a lot in common, look forward to reading more ๐Ÿ™‚

Hello, Kimie. I usually keep them in a glass pyrex and we eat them before the week is through. I imagine they could be frozen, but I haven’t personally tried that. So glad you came by – it’s nice to meet you!
