Have you ever considered becoming a Course Hero tutor? I hadn’t heard much about Course Hero until recently, when I noticed their highly rated tutoring app in the iTunes store. People are obviously very pleased with this tutoring service! It’s such a great idea!
If you’d like to make extra money from home, this is a viable option, especially if you have kids at home during the day. We’ll get to that in just a minute… let’s start at the beginning.
Becoming a Course Hero Tutor
What Is Course Hero?
Course Hero is a growing community of passionate educators, subject matter experts, and even some students, all working together to empower students with the knowledge they need to succeed in their classes.
What Does a Course Hero Tutor Do?
This is a little different than teaching for VIPKid; you don’t need to do live video, and you aren’t teaching English to Chinese students. No videos and no phone calls. This is great for stay-at-home parents who want to earn money while they’re home! The house can be noisy, but you can still get work done.
Course Hero is set up as a Q&A tutoring service, kind of like an online forum. As a tutor, you can even upload educational materials to help your students, such as study guides, flash cards, class notes, and practice quizzes. Students ask questions online, and you answer them with text and/or uploads.
How Much Does Course Hero Pay?
Here’s something else I like about Course Hero — Top tutors earn an average of $500 per week! $300 per week seems to be more common, though.
This is all while working when it suits you, on your own schedule, since you can tutor online from anywhere, anytime, and as much (or little) as you want!
Simply work with students to provide explanations that will help them study and succeed in their courses. They ask a question, then you submit an answer. Once your answer is accepted, you add earnings to your account (typically $3 per accepted answer). Keep answering questions, and you can keep earning money.
Do I Need a College Degree to Be a Course Hero Tutor?
Yes, in most cases (depending on the subject matter) it seems you must have a Bachelor’s degree. In addition, you must be a fluent English-speaker. Opportunities currently exist for those that are based in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Australia.
