Our family has practiced fasting for several years, which has prompted me to begin building this page with The Ultimate Daniel Fast Recipes List. Here you will find our favorite Daniel Fast recipes, and I’ll continue to add more as we discover new favorites!
You might also like my list of super easy Daniel Fast recipes for when you need dinner, quick.
Remember, these recipes are intended to be simple to prepare and NOT rich or heavy, because it is the opposite of “the king’s food” that Daniel abstained from during his captivity. During this time he ate mostly simple, fresh foods, such as vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts, seeds, etc. It is my hope that these recipes will follow this as closely as possible, but also within reason. Most recipes will have limited sweeteners, if any.
You can do this! You might also like to keep a set of printable Daniel Fast scripture readings on hand during this time, too.

Southwestern Black Bean Tacos (a reader favorite)
Simple Morning Oats with Walnuts and Raisins
Hearty Lentil Soup (skip the bacon in the recipe and it’s fine for the fast)
Portuguese Bean Soup (like a white bean soup with greens)
Easy Garlic Hummus (great for dipping veggies)
Homemade Pesto in a Blender (just skip the parmesan; this is great on whole wheat noodles)
Almond mash/paste (great with a banana or on your morning oats, although recently I’ve been buying this almond flour and mixing in a tablespoon of it to my oats instead – yum!)
Roasted veggies over brown rice (you can season this many ways and it always tastes great!)
