What tortillas can you have while on the Daniel Fast? Many tortillas have ingredients that don’t fit the general guidelines of the Daniel Fast food list. For example, lard is an ingredient in some tortillas, and lard is an animal product. White flour is also present in many flour tortillas.
So what are your options for acceptable Daniel Fast tortillas? Look for tortillas made with whole wheat or whole grains, with no white flour, animal products, yeast, or added sugar. You can also make your own, if you prefer.
Below you’ll find our personal recommendations; keep in mind this isn’t an exhaustive list of every option (that’s nearly impossible!), but it’s a great start. You can find these online or in your local grocery store. We also have a recipe below for making your own!

Daniel Fast Tortillas
Easy way to make your own tortillas if you can't seem to find store bought ones you like, or simply want to make tortillas from scratch.
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup warm water
Instructions
Mix together flour, oil, and salt in a medium bowl.
Slowly drizzle in the warm water, pausing to stir and mix together until a tacky dough is formed. (Add an additional tablespoon or two of water if needed).
Knead the dough in the bowl for two minutes, then let rest for 20 minutes.
Divide into 8 small, equal-sized balls.
Heat a lightly greased pan over medium high heat (or better yet, use a tortilla press).
Drop one ball of dough into the hot pan. Cook about one minute, until little bubble start to form on the surface.
Flip, cook about one more minute, and flatten with a large spatula. Remove from pan. Repeat with remaining seven balls of dough.
Notes
