One of the most profitable work-from-home opportunities (especially for stay at home moms) is actually in high demand right now: online proofreading jobs.
Why? Well, I believe there are two primary reasons.
First, we’re living in a digital world and tons of high-profile bloggers and web site managers are looking for editing and proofreading help. They’re publishing articles constantly, along with managing their web site, learning new kinds of marketing, and trying to get their content out there in front of more people. Having an extra set of eyes pouring over their articles and fixing their grammar, punctuation, and so on is quite valuable in today’s day and age.
Second, there’s been a HUGE surge in self-publishing. Authors aren’t as apt to wait for a book deal from some large publishing company anymore, and they often choose to write a book themselves and self-publish it to Amazon. Amazon has made the process quite easy, with many authors making a decent bit of money selling their books online this way.
How Much Can You Make?
What’s great about doing online proofreading jobs is that you can earn a full-time income from home, doing what you love. I just read a story about a stay-at-home mom who is making $40,000/yr as a freelance proofreader. This is very possible! You can do this as a part-time side hustle or really focus your effort and make a full-time income. It’s up to you!
Let’s take a closer look at how this works.
How to Get Online Proofreading Jobs
My friend Caitlin Pyle over at Proofread Anywhere is one of the most talented proofreaders out there… and she has compiled all of her knowledge into a comprehensive course that will help you get work.

Mvelopes: This is the online budgeting program we personally use and LOVE. In fact, we purchased a lifetime membership several years ago when they offered it to us. It’s like a virtual cash envelope system, and it syncs with your bank accounts. Here’s my full Mvelopes review, or you can click here for a free 30 day trial of Mvelopes.
Personal Capital: Personal Capital is much more detailed than Mvelopes, and is more centered on helping you with your investing rather than your budgeting. You can track your net worth, cash flow, investments, retirement planning, and more. Personal Capital pretty much picks up where Mvelopes has left off. They even offer a free version of their services. Check them out here.
