Looking for the best banana nut bread ever? Look no further.
My husband tells me it will “make a tadpole hug a whale.” ๐
I don’t think I’d go quite that far… but it is pretty delicious.
Your family will love it slathered with softened butter or maybe a fresh fruit jam.
Oh — and if you love a steamy cup of tea with your bread then you’ll want this one. It’s perfect.
No need to thank me later ๐
The Best Banana Nut Bread Ever
What you’ll need:
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup mashed bananas
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1.5 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 quick oats
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Here’s what to do:
Preheat the oven to 350 F. Lightly grease a 9×5 bread pan.
In a large bowl, cream together the shortening and sugars until creamy and almost fluffy.
Stir in the eggs one at a time, beating well, then stir in bananas and vanilla.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Beat into batter, then stir in oats and nuts.
Pour into your prepared bread pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 55 minutes, or until toothpick inserted into center of bread comes out clean.
Enjoy!
