I sat in my car, parked in the back of the grocery store parking lot, and let the hot tears fall.
Head turned, visors down, windows up, wishing I could hide.
I felt so broken.
I found myself smack-dab in the middle of a season where life felt too hard. At every turn was another hill to climb. Motherhood and moving and ministry and money… every area of my life seemed to hand me one blow after another.
I was giving away a piece of me here, and a piece of me there, and another piece here, only to feel like I was losing myself in the process.
Being broken hurts.
It’s in these seasons we know if God’s Word has taken root in our heart or not. When we feel broken and like we can’t go on anymore, His Holy Spirit prompts us to remember His Word.
Broken But Not Crushed
2 Corinthians 4 tells us, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves; we are afflicted in every way, BUT NOT CRUSHED…” (ESV)
This is for someone today.
You might be broken, hurting, and confused. Maybe you don’t want to face tomorrow, or next week, or next month.
Maybe life feels too hard.
You might feel “afflicted in every way” but you’re not crushed!
Let’s look further into the same passage. Verse 15 says, “For all things are for your sakes, so that the GRACE which is spreading to more and more people may cause the GIVING OF THANKS to abound to the GLORY of God.”
But that’s not all. Verse 16 mentions “Therefore we do not lose heart…”
And in verse 17 we read “producing for us an eternal weight of GLORY far beyond all comparison.”
My sweet friend, God isn’t done yet.
You might feel broken today, but He is working out grace and glory in the middle of your situation.
Your story isn’t finished.
The devil is a liar.
Our God is a redeemer. Restorer. Hope for the hurting. THE GREAT I AM.
We may not know the end from the beginning, but He does.
We may not understand, but He does.
You might be broken, but you’re not crushed.
He puts broken women together again, stronger and better than ever before.
Cling to Him.
Sending up prayers for you today,
*I just stumbled across this Proverbs 31 t-shirt with one of my favorite verses. What a great reminder of our strength in Him!
