Caramelized brussel sprouts are a favorite in our house, especially during the fall and winter months. And bacon… well, isn’t bacon always a favorite?
This super simple side dish can be prepared in about than twenty minutes. In these photos, it’s served alongside a barley pilaf and grilled fish. Perfect for a fall day with brussel sprouts are in season!
Caramelized Brussel Sprouts with Bacon
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 5 strips of bacon
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 cups brussel sprouts, halved
- Pinch of sea salt & black pepper
Here’s what to do:
Saute bacon over medium-high heat in a large, heavy duty frying pan (I’ve been using this OXO pan*).
Transfer to a paper towel lined plate.
Keeping the bacon drippings in the pan, melt the tablespoon of butter.
Add brussel sprouts and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown and beginning to caramelize (approximately ten minutes).
Crumble bacon and add to pan. Stir; sprinkle with salt and pepper.
