I’d eventually love to have the Imperial Berkey System as the kiddos get older and consume more water, but for now we really are thankful for our Berkey Light system. It would be awesome to have that quality on the go as well.

I’ve been subscribing to LABB – I don’t know if that counts as an entry or if you have to be a new subscriber.
So Jaime, I’m curious. Will you be using your Berky for everyday drinking water, or are you only considering having this for an emergency situation? I’m new to the idea of Home Preparedness but have been following your posts and read some on a Blog you referred to that was having a “challenge” in recent weeks. It’s all got me thinking. So, again, will this be on your kitchen counter for everyday use?
April, it would depend on the water situation where I live. Currently, our city water is fairly good, and we also have a high-end undermount filter that attaches to our kitchen sink area and filters out other impurities, so I’m comfortable with that for our everyday use. We would personally have the travel Berkey for a) emergency preparedness, and b) travel. We take lots of short trips and also two longer vacations each year, and often spend money on bottled water during those times. I think it would be cost-effective and better for the landfills if we had the travel Berkey to bring with us in leiu of the bottled water
If our city water was questionable, like so many cities I have been to, or if I was concerned about pesticide seepage, antibiotic contamination, etc, I would def plan on a Berkey for daily use. Hope that helps!

The one big plus I forgot to mention, is my husband hated to drink water before we invested in the Berkey Light. He grew up on Soda pop and Koolaide. After we bought the Berkey Light, although water still isn’t his favorite beverage, he actually drinks it. Whoo Hoo!

I like the Berkley light and that I can buy an accessory to reduce flouride in my water.
Our family owns one of the larger Berkey water filters for everyday home use and it is amazing! The water tastes so much better from the tap after it has been filtered. I love that they offer both the travel bottle and the travel Berkey. That would be so handy to have when you are out camping, hiking, or even at work! Thanks for sharing their website and info. It is very good to have fresh clean drinking water no matter where you go!

love that the berkey’s can remove fluoride, they keep threatening to put it in our water system that has never had it, will be buying one if it comes to that

Thanks for the great post and giveaway, I am very interested in these filters. I think the LED Light version looks pretty fun, but if I were to buy one I would probably get the Big Berkey since it is stainless and we are trying to eliminate plastics from our food/beverage usage.

So hard to choose!! I’d love the berkey light for the house, the Berkey travel when we’re traveling, and the Go Berkey kit would be great for my dh when he goes backpacking. I’d probably go with the light first since it’d be used more. Would have been great last year when the water pump stations were flooded and jeopardized our drinking water (not that it’s great to begin with). :0)
I’ve visited the berkey website many times, but don’t quite have it in the budget right now. I like the big berkey best, because it provides so much, and we drink alot of water!

I checked out the Directive website… I like the Travel Berkey because there are only 2 people in this family. My second choice would be the shower filter system–that would be great especially to get chlorine out.
