Introducing the Biblical Womanhood Friday Link-up!

biblicalwomanhoodfridaylarger

Each Friday, I invite you to share what you have done this week to grow in Biblical womanhood, inspired by the passages found in Proverbs 31 and Titus 2.

  • Did you build up your home through an effective prayer and Bible reading time?
  • Have you found a new way to "willingly work with your hands"?
  • Discovered a healthier or more frugal way to provide food for your household?
  • Stretched out your hands to the needy?
  • Trained your children?
  • Grown in love and respect for your husband?
  • Better planned your time?
  • Cooked a nourishing, real foods meal to improve the physical well-being of your family?

We'd love to hear about it!

Friend’s Home (Kelly @ Generation Cedar) Devastated by Tornado Outbreak – Would You Help?

The Crawford Family

We just learned this morning that a sweet blogging friend, Kelly Crawford, and her family lost their home, as well as her parents' home, in the deadly tornado outbreak yesterday.  Would you join my thoughtful friend June in collecting a donation to send to Kelly's family?  You can donate here.

Kelly's brother shared this on her personal FB page:  "Friends of Kelly- This is Kelly's brother Chris. Kelly and her entire family, and 4 other families sought refuge in their basement this afternoon. Everyone is ok but their house got completely wiped out along with our parents home. (and barns and outbuildings and vehicles) Thank God for his amazing protection! Please pray for them and their neighbors tonight. They are trapped from getting out of the neighborhood and their are other neighbors that are being dug out right now. Please pray."

Be sure to check for updates on Kelly's blog, Generation Cedar.

While we are praising God that her family is safe, they still need our prayers for peace and provision.  Will you join me?

Gingered Spring Peas and Onions

012

Spring is here; do you have delicious sweet peas coming up in your garden?  You'll want to try this simple and flavorful side dish!

Here's what you'll need:

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1-2 tablespoons fresh ginger, peeled and finely chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 cup fresh peas
  • pinch of salt

Heat the butter over high heat until melted and skillet is hot.  Saute ginger, onions, and peas for 2-3 minutes.  Reduce heat to medium low, add a pinch of salt, and let cook slowly for about five minutes.

*Tip:  If you are new to eating "real" foods, I highly recommend you read the book Food Rules: An Eater's Manual by Michael Pollan.  He explains what real foods are and why you want to be sure you're eating them, all in an easy to understand format.  One of his most quoted statements is "Eat food.  Not too much.  Mostly plants."   I've read several of his books, and they are all good, but Food Rules is easiest to begin the real foods journey with.  Great inspiration and information!

We recently served these peas alongside a brown rice and quinoa mixture, with grilled chicken being the main course.  Delicious!

Do you have a favorite spring recipe?

Lilla Rose Flexi-Clip: Simply Elegant & Perfectly Practical {+Giveaway!}

My own hair - I'm using the Lilla Rose Flexi-Clip for a simple chignon.

My own hair - I'm using a Lilla Rose Flexi-Clip to create a simple chignon.

Beautiful yet practical hairstyles can be difficult to create, especially when you have very long - or very thick - hair like mine; that's why I love my Lilla Rose flexi-clip.  While these gorgeous clips work well in nearly any type of hair, I'm especially appreciative of them.  Why?  Honestly, I enjoy wearing my hair up in a simple chignon most days, and it used to take two barrettes and several hairpins.  Now it only takes one Lilla Rose flexi-clip.  I love it!

Easy to use, gentle on my hair, very comfortable, and I love the way it looks.

These clips come in many styles, sizes, and colors, and are both easy to use and affordable.  There's a clip for every type of hair.  There are clips for you, and also for your daughters.  You really can't go wrong!  No more awful looking scrunchies or barrettes that damage your healthy hair, no more hairpins poking at your scalp.

Look at some of the other beautiful styles you can create:

And here are a couple of my favorite clips --- aren't they pretty?

Naturally, I was thrilled when Shannon, a Lilla Rose representative, became one of our generous sponsors here at Like a Bubbling Brook.

Speaking Life Into Your Marriage

ring

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” Proverbs 18:21

I’ve heard Christian wives mutter and complain about their husbands, both behind their back and to their face:

 “What’s wrong with you?”

“You’re lazy.”

“Why didn’t you do ______ right?”

“You spent too much money on that.”

“You should be more spiritual.”

Recently I came across a very wise statement, “Marriage is not sent to the grave all at once, but by a series of little digs.”

I wonder if we are murdering marriage with all of our complaining.

Murdering our own marriages, yes, but perhaps even graver than that - are we murdering marriage for upcoming generations?

When they see my marriage, your marriage, will they be blessed by it or repelled by it?
