Conforming to the World

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."  Romans 12:2

"Do you want to change your life?"

"Oh, sure," come the answers.

"Then throw it away."

"Throw it away?  someone exclaims. "But don't you know we only go around once in life?  You gotta grab all the gusto you can."

It's interesting that people who would never touch a drop of beer can be shot through with that philosophy.

Exposure to massive doses of worldly thinking squeezes us into the world's mold.  But we open to change when we turn away from that and let the living truth of God move into our minds, our emotions, and our behavior.  Yet so often we see no responsibility in connection with our knowing.  We overload the circuits with knowledge, and fail to teach people that when God reveals himself to you, you are responsible.

very interesting , I like it!

  2. I love the last line. We are responsible. Our character quality for the month is responsibility and I am having to re-teach myself some things in certain areas. I tend to be more of a flexible free-spirit and though that sounds great it can catch up with me at times! Maybe I should just call that sin or “irresponsibility” and it would help me to respond better to the leading of the Holy Spirit with my time. Thanks for you thoughts. BTW….I made your “Savoury Herb Crusted Chicken Pot Pie” last night and it was savoury indeed! My family enjoyed it!

    • I see that I spelled “savory” wrong …. Ugh! Please forgive my haste!

Oh, Susan, I tend to struggle with the “free spirit” mentality, too – yet another reason I am so thankful for His grace as I keep trying! And I’m soooo glad your family enjoyed the chicken pot pie. It’s a favorite around here :)

I am reading Bob Schultz’s Practical Happiness to my girls right now. His books are so applicable to us all. Today’s reading offered a cure for the blues – our responsibilities. It was wonderful and dove-tailed so well with your post.

Isn’t it delightful how He does that?

    God’s peace…
